2nd appt!

Yesterday was my second appt. I should have had a clue as to how it would go since I called to confirm and they said 3:15 (my card had 3:30). Of course I tried to rush there (takes at least 20 minutes) and got behind a combine. For at least 3 miles. Going less than 20 miles an hour. Felt like forever. Then I got stuck at a school bus. THEN I was driving on a 2 lane one way street and there was 1 lane closed because of some kind of work on the sidewalk. Well, another car pulled out from being parallel parked and then stopped. I had no idea what she was doing. I went to go around and she started to move again. So I stopped - and so did she! 3 times! Finally, the last time she stopped, I gassed it and went around her. She was on her cell phone and not paying attention whatsoever!! GRRR! So, I get to the hospital (where my dr's office is) and have to go pee in a cup. So I do that. And then carry the little gift bag that they gave me to carry the pee cup in up to the office and check in - it was 3:20. I almost made it... I waited about 10 minutes and they called my name. Then they weighed me and took my blood pressure and test my pee - I had WAY more than they needed - but no one said how much they would need. I waited about 10 minutes for the doctor to come in and she asked if I had any questions, how I was feeling, etc. I can't remember if she felt my stomach or not, but I don't think so. I think she just got out the doppler. She told me she would try to find the heartbeat but it can take awhile. And it's not unusual to not find it this early (11 weeks). So, I was pretty calm and she looked for about 2 minutes. She stopped and said she was going to see if the u/s tech would do a scan on me before she left (she was supposed to leave at 4 and it was 5 til...). So, I went back to the waiting room to wait until she could do an u/s. I quick called my mom and then my best friend to explain what was going on. I told them I'd call when I was done. Then I texted some friends to let them know what was going on. I waited about 10 minutes (maybe a little less) and the u/s tech came and got me. I went back and laid down and got gooped up. Finally my day turned around!!! I saw my little baby!! He/she was moving all over! He/She kept putting his/her arm at his/her face (looked like thumb sucking to me) and wiggling all around. The u/s tech said "No wonder she couldn't find the heartbeat, the little one won't stay still!" I got to watch for at least 5 minutes and I got 3 pictures! It was amazing!! I told my DH that we are in trouble - it seems our baby will have ADHD... I celebrated with a quarter pounder and fries from McDonald's. And a coke... I've been pretty good about giving up the caffeine, so I allow myself to splurge.

  1. Yay for a good appointment. It is always nice to get a sneak peak of your LO. That is great you have such an active one too. I bet you can't wait to feel all that movement yourself. I love the belly pics. Keep them coming!!!
